Gardening at Lunch
The Columbia County Extension Service will hold a lunch seminar on ornamental grasses at the Columbia County Government Complex Auditorium on July 2 from 12:10 to 12:45 p.m.
Charles Phillips, county extension agent, will present the seminar.
July Fourth celebration

The Patriots Park Fourth of July Celebration will be at the gymnasium, soccer fields and baseball complex of Patriots Park from 3 to 9 p.m.
The Independence Day event is free and features 13 amusement rides, Noahs' Ark Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, a children's wagon parade and contest, a performance by Shiloh, an Independence Day Ceremony, lots of food and the largest fireworks display in the area.
Parking will be at the Columbia County Merchants Association Fairgrounds with handicapped parking inside Patriots Park.

Patriotic ceremony
The Augusta Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars will conduct its annual wreath-laying ceremony at 10 a.m. July 4 at the Founders Monument in front of the Augusta-Richmond County municipal building. The ceremony will include flags of many local patriotic and civic organizations, singing and a speaker. The public is invited.
Landfill holiday closing
The Columbia County Baker Place Road landfill will be closed Friday and Saturday in recognition of Independence Day. The landfill will reopen at 6 a.m. July 7.

Thomson First United Methodist Church is looking for people willing to consign items for a church consignment sale.
