Time Out
The First Baptist Church of Evans' Time Out Luncheon will be Thursday.
The event is a time of prayer and music, delicious food and fellowship around the tables. Cafeteria-style lunch begins at 11:50 a.m. with a menu of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, coleslaw and dessert
Cost is $5 per person. Reservations are required by Wednesday. The person who brings the most first timers will receive a Free Lunch coupon for next time.

Barbecue and auction
The American Legion Post 192 is playing host to a barbecue and sports memorabilia auction on Saturday. Some of the sports items include items from Barry Bonds and Dale Earnhardt.
Tickets cost $7 each and available at the post or by sending a check and self-addressed, stamped envelope to American Legion Post 192, P.O. Box 458, Evans, GA 30809.
Church news
Youth and Graduates Day will be at Gospel Waters Baptist Church in Evans on Sunday at 10:45 a.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Beverly Ashley of Williston, S.C.

Online permits
The Georgia Forestry Commission's Columbia County Unit, who issues burning permits in person and by telephone, now offers them online. Visit www.gfc.state.ga.us and follow the directions.
The only burning material the permit covers is leaves, small limbs and pine straw. The legal burning hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.. The permit is only for notification purposes as homeowners are still responsible for any liability issues the smoke or fire may cause.

The commission also offers assistance with outside burning and evaluations of homes that could be in a potential line of fire.
Free food delivery
The Golden Harvest Food Bank is distributing food to the Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church on Saturday, which the church will delivery free to anyone in need in Columbia County. The delivery of perishable produce is anonymous. For more information, call David Titus at 556-8090.
Blood drive
The fifth annual Columbia County EMA Summer Holiday Blood Drive is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Columbia County Government Center Auditorium.

Vacation Bible school
Wesley United Methodist Church will be offering vacation Bible school June 23-27 from 9 a.m. to noon. The school is open to students ages 3 years to fifth grade to join us to explore the miracles of Jesus and enjoy recreation, crafts, music and more.
