Fathers' importance 'underestimated,' demeaned in pop culture

As a 17-year-old, I believe the importance of fathers is underestimated. Today, mainly in the media, fathers are portrayed as beer-drinking couch potatoes who couldnt care less about the well-being of their wife and family and care more about their flavor of potato chips. The portrayal of fathers has gone from Ward Clever to Homer Simpson.

Although it is true that some fathers act this way, it is an incorrect portrayal of the way they should act according to the Bible, written by the original father, God. Fathers are supposed to have an intimate, loving, caring relationship with their family, just as God does with His followers.

Fathers should be very defensive of their family, whether it involves swatting a fly away from their baby sons head or tackling a man who is attacking their daughter. They should always be willing to listen to their children and wife when they need to talk. Read the Bible, that is the way fathers should live, defying the medias stereotyping!
