Thomson student gets $1,000 grant

A Thomson student was one of 38 high school seniors from Georgia receiving a $1,000 scholarship to college or post-secondary vocational/technical school, from the 2003 Burger King Scholars Program.

Quenswella Walker of Thomson High School was also one of 1,707 students honored nationally.

Now in its fourth year, the Burger King Scholars Program has awarded 5,471 scholarships to deserving youth, totaling more than $5.4 million. Seniors throughout the United States and Canada are eligible for the scholarships, which are based on academic achievement, work experience, community service and/or co-curricular activities plus financial need.
