Beale named head coach at Evans
The Columbia County Board of Education recently named Billy Beale to replace Evans High School head football coach Coley Cassidy after he resigned to be the head coach at Westside High in Augusta.
"I was surprised and hated to see Mr. Cassidy leave, but I am pleased to be appointed to this position," Beale said.
Despite much of the team returning this year, Bale admits it will be difficult to beat last year's record.
Beale is a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and the University of Georgia, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He also played professional baseball before entering coaching in 1953 at Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Ga.
