The Yard Sale

The Evans high School Career/Technology Education Faculty and Advisory Board will hold The Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in front of the school on Cox Road.

Post-legislative breakfast

Members of Columbia County's state legislative delegation - Sen. Don Cheeks, Sen. Joey Brush, Rep. Ben Harbin and Rep. Barry Fleming - will discuss the 2003 General Assembly on Thursday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m.

Mothers Day Out

West Acres Baptist Church is holding registration for the 2003-04 Mother's Day Out program for children ages 18 months to 4 years. The program begins May 20. The church is located on Gibbs Road.

Also, Lewis Memorial's Mother's Day Out and Pre-School is accepting registration for their fall session. Three- and 4-year-olds may attend three or five days a week; 2-year-olds may attend two days a week and there's a new program for 1-year-olds. The church also is registering pupils for its summer program that will run June 3-26 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Summer enrichment

Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church is holding registration for its Full Summer Enrichment Program for 2003. The program costs $50 per week and lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $5 per week transportation charge and $20 for before and after care. Care before and after the program from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. costs $60 per week for each.

Pre-enrichment lasts May 19-30. The program runs from June 2 to July 11. Post Enrichment care lasts July 14-31. It is available to children ages 4-14 (grades pre-K through eighth).

Tribute to Mothers

The American Breast Cancer Association's second annual Tribute to Mothers will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. The event is aimed at raising money for awareness, mammograms for needy women and research.

The evening will feature food from lots of local restaurants, including La Maison, Hot Foods by Calvin, Bombay Central, Mimmo's Taste of Italy, Augustino's, Sconyers' and many more. There'll also be live musical entertainment and silent and live auctions.

A minimum donation of $30 per person is requested.

Gymfest International

The Family Y's recreational gymnastics participants are featured in the It's a Small World International Gymfest from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Wheeler Gymnastics Center on Wheeler Road. The event showcases the skills of the gymnastics students.

Grovetown festival

The first annual Grovetown Heritage Festival, A Blast from the Past, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, next to City Hall.
