A Greenbrier High School student arrested in separate sex attacks has a history of violence arrests.

Thryshaun Ronta McCladdie, 19, of Appling, was arrested twice in connection with two fights months before the sexual offenses reported in April.

He was charged in September 2002 for simple battery after punching a male classmate at school.

McCladdie also was accused of starting a second on-campus fight in February, earning McCladdie a disorderly conduct charge. The case was mediated through juvenile court because other participants in the altercation were juveniles.

Law enforcement officials Monday arrested McCladdie on a child molestation charge after a 15-year-old classmate accused him of forcing himself on her at school April 17, said Columbia County Sheriffs Office Capt. Steve Morris. The victim reported the incident to school officials April 18, and her parents and the sheriffs office were then contacted.

""When she reported it to the school counselor, the safety officer got involved, pulled the security cameras, said Charles Nagle, Columbia County associate school superintendent. ""It was in an unauthorized Continued from Page 1

area, because it was down towards the gym area where no students are allowed because its lunch. When the safety officer saw on the video camera the two students go down that hall at that time when this girl reported this as being a rape, they called the sheriffs department.

The sheriffs office also charged McCladdie with false imprisonment and sexual battery Wednesday in a March 5 incident, in which an 18-year-old classmate accused him of groping and restricting her, Capt. Morris said. Though the victim reported the incident two days later, neither the sheriffs office nor the victims parents were notified at that time. The sheriffs office learned of McCladdies suspected involvement in the incident when the second assault was reported April 18.

The victim told her parents about the incident after reporting it to the school. Her mother waited two days to hear from the school before confronting school officials. She then declined to prosecute.

The day both incidents were reported to the sheriffs office, school officials put McCladdie on temporary suspension pending a disciplinary hearing. At the hearing, McCladdie was placed on long-term suspension, Nagle said.

""The investigation has been ongoing for several days now, close to a couple of weeks, Capt. Morris said Wednesday. ""It has taken some time to formulate exactly what happened and when. But interviews are ongoing.

Capt. Morris said McCladdie also is being investigated in a third sexual offense April 18 at the school. A 16-year-old student claims McCladdie followed her into a female bathroom and forced himself on her. The student reported the incident to school officials on April 22, and her parents filed a report with the sheriffs office the next day.

A fourth student alleging sexual misconduct came forward Thursday, accusing McCladdie of groping her during the schools first semester, Capt. Morris said. The 17-year-old did not report the incident at that time.

McCladdie is currently in the Columbia County Detention center with bonds totaling $32,500.
