Barbecue and yard sales helped raise money for the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department Saturday.
The fire department held their event at their main fire station on Cobbham Road.
"We had a truck donated to us from Ferrell Gas Company and we're trying to raise money to get it fixed up and put it in service," said Winfield Fire Department Lt. Patrick Bargeron.
Bargeron said the department already has raised $2,000 through other fund-raisers to pay for the retrofit of the donated truck. It will take another $1,000 to complete the work.

The department rented out tables at $5 apiece for the public to hold yard sales. Firefighters also sold barbecue plates for $6 each.

Bargeron said the fire department made $120 on table rentals and expects to make about $400 in barbecue sales.
Meanwhile, yard-salers were doing rather well themselves.
"It was really busy this morning," said Michelle Johnson of Appling, who had set up a table for the yard sale. "I couldn't get unpacked fast enough."
