Evans minister will lead White Oak spring meeting

White Oak Campground's Spring Camp Meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27.

The Rev. Bob Gillespie, former Thomson First United Methodist Church senior pastor, is the guest speaker for the weekend. After 43 years and nine churches, Gillespie retired two years ago and is now working part-time at Wesley United Methodist Church in Evans. At Wesley, he teaches two adult Sunday school classes, Alpha classes and preaches when needed.

A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is married to the former Sondra Weaver and they have three children - Carole, John and Adam - and two grandchildren, Tasha and Chanel.

Gillespie is scheduled to speak April 25 at 7 p.m. and April 27 at 11 a.m. Other activities for the camp meeting include a morning devotional and breakfast on the Asbury Trail on Saturday, April 26, at 8 a.m.; a covered-dish dinner in the dining hall at 5:30 p.m. and a performance by the Wesleymen Quartet at 7 p.m.
