Church of the Holy Comforter will have the service, Stations of the Cross, Wednesday at 6 p.m. on the church property on the 400 block of Fury's Ferry Road, across from Baker Woods Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call 210-1133.

Summer enrichment

The Brookwood Elementary School Counseling Department is offering a special program called Summer Enrichment Opportunities on Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Fire department fund-raiser

The Winfield Volunteer Fire Department will hold a barbecue and yard sale on Saturday at the main fire station on Cobbham Road. The yard sale begins at 7 a.m. and the barbecue goes on sale at 10 a.m. Barbecue plates are $6 each.

The department is seeking vendors to rent yard sale tables for $5. All proceeds from sales of items goes to the owner, not the department. To reserve a table, call Patrick Bargeron at 541-0446.

Earth Day

Earth Day festivities will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park.

Activities include exhibits by numerous local businesses and organizations; educational sessions, craft projects, a scanvenger hunt, egg-o-logical egg hunt, guided nature walks through the nature park and h more. Contact Caroline Whitcomb at 828-2109.

Swamp Stomp 5K Run/Walk will be held at 8 a.m. The course runs through the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. Registration by Thursday is $15 and race day (6:30-8 a.m.) is $18. Top three female and male finishers in 13 age categories will be recognized. Apply online at www.active.com.

Confederate Memorial event

The Brig. Gen. E. Porter Alexander Camp 158, Sons of Confederate Veterans, is sponsoring its annual Southern Heritage March and Confederate Memorial Service Saturday beginning at noon at the base of the Confederate monument on Broad Street in Augusta. The March will proceed to Magnolia Cemetery with a ceremony in the Confederate Dead section. For more information, call 855-1895.

Hoppin' musical

First-graders of Brookwood Elementary School will present the musical production "Get Hoppin" at 2:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.

Family Y Easter

The Family Y is hosting an Easter Egg-stravaganza Family Night from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Camp Lakeside on Lake Thurmond. Scheduled activities include a hayride, Easter egg hunt, hotdog dinner and marshmallow roast.

College night
