Cheerleading tryouts

The Hayden's Allstar Twisters cheerleading team will hold tryouts at Haydens Gym. All skill levels (grades 3-12) are welcome. There will be a meeting for prospective cheerleaders Thursday at 7 p.m. Practice days are April 21 (5:30-7:30 p.m.), April 22 (7:30-9:30 p.m.) and April 24 (7-9 p.m.). The tryouts will be April 26 starting at 10 a.m. For more information call 868-0608.

Basketball camp

The Fast Break Basketball Camp at Augusta Preparatory Day School is scheduled for June 23-27. The cost is $60. The girls session is from 8 a.m. to noon, and the boys session is from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information contact Kevin Furtado at 863-1906, ext. 374.

Volleyball camp

The third annual Greenbrier High School Volleyball Camp will be June 17-20, and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Greenbrier gym. The cost is $55, and the camp is open for girls in sixth through ninth grades. The camp is limited to the first 35 girls who register. Boys soccer camp

The first annual Greenbrier "Boys Only" three-day Indoor Summer Soccer Camp is May 27-29. The camp will run each day from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Greenbrier High School gym, and is open to boys ages 10-14. The cost is $60. The camp is open to the first 25 players to register. The camp, which will be conducted by Greenbrier soccer coaches Alex Heider and Chip Warren, will focus on improvement of individual fundamental skills, team concepts and game situations. Applications are now being accepted for The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Players from all 50 states and eight foreign countries attended the camp in 2002. Speedway opens

Modoc Speedway will begin the 2003 racing season Friday night and will race cars with the same rules as I-20 Speedway on the .4-mile oval. The track is just north of Modoc off South Carolina Highway 28 near Hamilton State Park. For more information: www.modocspeedway.com.
