Soon the Evans 12 Cinema will be gone. It's becoming the Evans 14.

The movie house, off Belair Road near the intersection of Washington Road, is undergoing construction to add two new screens.

Current plans are to open the new auditoriums July 3 n time for the premiere of Terminator 3. The opening date may change because of weather-related construction delays.

"It will enable us to carry more prints or multiple prints of popular movies," said Evans 12 General Manager Brian Cherry.

"Instead of carrying two prints of Terminator 3, we'll be able to carry three prints," he said.

The new 300-seat auditoriums, 20 seats larger than the theater's current largest auditorium, will feature stadium seating, retractable arm rests, Dolby digital sound and wall-to-wall screens.

Construction crews also will build additional restroom facilities for Evans 12.

"The time is right. Business is good," Cherry said.

"As the county grows more the theater does more business. The growth has warranted two more screens," he said.

Cherry also said that the screen additions is not a case of keeping up with the Joneses.

"We've never done anything because Regal 20 has done it," he said.

"We do things very differently from them. Most people who come here enjoy coming here. They have no interest in going somewhere else."
