Stevens Creek PTO compiling recipes for book

Posted: Sunday, March 23, 2003

The Stevens Creek Elementary School PTO is publishing a cookbook, A Spoonful of Excellence - recipes from the staff, families and friends of Stevens Creek Elementary School, a Georgia School of Excellence.

The PTO is collecting recipes from former students and their families. Recipes should be submitted by March 31.

The cookbooks will be professionally printed and include information about the school's history, the surrounding community and student artwork. The cookbooks are scheduled to be printed in the summer, and will be available for purchase in August, according to Chris Baum, the vice president of the PTO.

"The cookbook is a great way for our staff and families to share something that is totally separate from education. The kids are able to submit their favorite recipes, and see their names in print. We hope to create a unique keepsake. We are really excited about it," Baum said.

Baum said any profits from cookbook sales would support a variety of programs, including foreign language, physical education, art/drama and music. The PTO also provides funding for teacher and principal "wish list" items, such as books, electronic equipment and computer software, an honors assembly, drug awareness programs, playground equipment and landscaping of school property.

"We really hope to get alumni and their families to help us with this project by sending in their recipes. It will make the book that much more special," Baum said.

Recipes may be dropped off or mailed to the school (3780 Evans to Locks Road, Martinez, GA 30907). The e-mail address is stevenscreekcook@aol.com. Include a name and phone number (phone numbers will not be published in the cookbook). For more information call Beth Cooper at 860-7687.
