When I consider a candidate for Aiken County sheriff, I look at moral character and relevant education and experience. I don't know all the candidates personally; they all appear to have some of these traits.
But I do know Jody Rowland, and I know he has the right combination of all three to make a great sheriff. I have observed his involvement in church, family and civic activities and can attest to his high morals and his commitment to Aiken County values.
He is highly educated in the requisite skills for this position, holding both bachelor's and master's degrees in criminal justice. Even more important is his experience at every level of our Aiken County Sheriff's Office operation...
I am also impressed with the boldness he's showing as interim sheriff. During campaign time when he is sure to be criticized for any move, he's made changes in shift operations to put more officers on our streets and is changing policies to make the office more open and accessible. Mr. Rowland is proving he's his own man...
