Hunt is accessible and dependable

As busy as President George W. Bush is, he has already gotten back with me regarding a letter I wrote to him about my organization, The America's Dialysis, Diabetic, Senior Citizen Club.

//

He approved of everything I told him. As busy as Mr. Bush is running this world, he got back to me quicker than former Sheriff Howard Sellers did the whole time he was sheriff of Aiken County. I called him 10 times, and he never returned my calls in all his time in office. Mr. Sellers has the right job now. He will catch Osama bin Laden doing his new job with homeland security, because he knows how to hide.

I called (interim Sheriff) Jody Rowland on March 8 at his office because I wasn't sure who my family and I wanted to vote for. I was told that I could not speak to Mr. Rowland until March 10, and that was all the operator knew. Same old thing. A chip off Mr. Sellers' block. If Mr. Rowland is elected sheriff of Aiken County, he will be another Mr. Sellers.

That same day I also called the Aiken Department of Public Safety, where Mike Hunt works. I was told that Mr. Hunt could be paged and would call me right back. He called me back in about 10 minutes. That's the kind of sheriff we need in Aiken County. That's the man for me and my family.

I talked with Mr. Hunt for a while, and I told him what I had done. He said, "Mr. Barton, I want to give you my home phone number." That's what we all need. A man you can depend on.

Jimmie W. Barton, Langley, S.C.
