U.S. has a right to resume the war with Iraq

Posted: Friday, March 21, 2003

I would like to submit to Greg Weis that his March 11 letter, "Signing U.N. Charter was a promise," left out some information on the situation with Iraq.

//

At the end of the first Gulf War, the coalition forces agreed to a cease-fire if Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's representatives signed an agreement that provided, among other things, the government of Iraq to disarm.

As everyone knows, Iraq has not lived up to this agreement. Therefore it can be argued very easily that we have the right to resume the war with Iraq and finish the job. In my mind, no other resolution is necessary, and this action would also live up to the terms of the U.N. Charter, as Mr. Weis outlines.

I believe that to allow this tyrant to remain in office will be a mistake that we do not want to make again.
