The newly elected officers of the Columbia County Republican Party were referred to as New Horizons leadership. The only thing new are the names (http://newstimesonline.com/stories/ 031203/new_124-3519.shtml).
The tactics used were about as new as the Old Testament. The same tactics were used in January when the newly-elected chairman and three other commissioners, with approximately 26 months experience combined, chose to completely ignore Commissioner Diane Ford, who had been elected overwhelmingly to her third term.
Now the commissioners and the rest of the county elected officials have ousted a very capable man: former Party Chairman Alvin Starks.
//
Ford and Starks have retained their dignity and their integrity. Columbia County and the entire Republican Party have suffered a giant step backward.
Somebody once said there are three kinds of people: Those who make things happen; those who watch things happen, and those who have to ask, what happened?
Columbia County has great potential. Considering the inabilities of some other counties, it would be a travesty if Columbia Countians of the future find themselves asking, What happened?
