When the National Aeronautics and Space Administration began the investigation of outer space, the apparent reason was to ascertain whether there was life and if there was a possible use for outer space. No life was found, and humans could not exist in space without a chamber of artificial atmosphere. Given this information, it certainly did not show that it would be worthwhile to colonize space. Also, there was no indication of danger to the Earth's population, unless one subscribes to the existence of UFOs bearing aliens aimed at attacking Earth.

So why do we continue to pour unbelievable amounts of money into this project when the same could be done on Earth, with much less cost and, above all, no tragic losses of life?
This astronomical, expensive program should cease, and the monies diverted to cure the ills here on Earth, such as health problems, cancer, AIDS, etc., and updating worn-out and outmoded infrastructures and educational programs attacking poverty. The list is endless.
We know there will be an extreme hue and cry from those who derive their livings from the space program. Hopefully, they will be retrainable. Let's stop this loss of life and outpouring of monetary resources now!
