Author presentation

Dr. T. Paul Thigpen will speak about his new book, Gehenna - a novel about the perils of hell - from 10:55 a.m. to noon today in the social hall of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Law Enforcement Academy

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office will be holding a Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy on Thursday.

The free course is offered each Thursday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., for nine weeks and is open to Columbia County residents ages 18 and over.

Anyone interested in attending the class and receiving an application should contact Candi Sharp at 541-2876 or Capt. Jim March at 541-4027.

Tomato class

A tomato class will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Evans High School. The class will give details about the Big Tomato Contest. Hot dogs will be served before the meeting.

Steve Green concert

Steve Green will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at West Acres Baptist Church.

Presented by Augusta Christian Schools, tickets cost $14 for adults, $10 for children ages 12 and under, or $16 at the door. Tickets are available at Augusta Christian and select area Christian bookstores.

Field trip

Columbia County Retired Educators will take their annual lunch and field trip March 25.

Members are asked to meet at 10 a.m.in the Kroger parking lot on Columbia Road. The group will depart for Columbia, to visit the State Museum and will return about 5 p.m. Please call to make your reservations by Thursday.

Ladies night out

Augusta Christian Women's Club will hold Our Dazzling Ladies Night Out from 7 to 9 p.m. March 24 at the Richmond Hotel Ballroom, 725 Greene St.

The evening includes dinner, a fashion show by Showtime Collections, music by Jennie Downs and Janet McGraw speaking on When You Think Things Can't Change Don't Be So Sure.

Tickets cost $12 and the deadline to purchase is Tuesday. For tickets or more information, call Carol at 309-9135.
