This letter in response to the Feb. 26 letters by C.L. Cheatham, Republican attack on chairman self-destructive (http://newstimesonline.com/stories/022603/let_letters_022503_1611_5.shtml), and by Richard J. Killien, GOP in "disarray, elected officials target Starks (http://newstimesonline.com/stories/022603/let_letters_022503_1611_6.shtml):
Apparently Cheatham and Killien have little or no knowledge of the functions and responsibilities of the Republican Party and the officials of the party. For whatever reason, many Columbia County Republicans feel Party Chairman Alvin Starks has not been effective or responsive.
Cheatham and Killien chose to take personal shots at several people, myself included. I feel I was given a great compliment when they referred to U.H. Pittman as my sidekick. I would be honored to claim anyone of the caliber of Pittman as my sidekick.

Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, will you find a more Christian person with more honesty, integrity, more respected and more dedicated in giving of his time and talents to Columbia County. He truly loves this community and its every citizen. One should be blessed with a sidekick who has the qualities of Pittman.
As for Andy Kingery and myself, I have no apology. The only regret I have is not being able to raise enough money to run an effective campaign.
