'Award' in order for idea to boost service pay

After reading an article that appeared in The Washington Times on Feb. 26, I could not help but be struck by the different attitude being displayed by some leaders in Maine toward our military service men and women being recalled to active duty.

Now, I am proud to announce that my hometown county has voluntarily extended all pay benefits to those county school system employees who have been recalled to active duty. The law requires jobs be kept open for them upon their return, but we went further. Based upon ones net military pay, if its less that your county wage, then the county will pay the difference.

Thus, military members, especially the lower enlisted grades, will not lose money by going on duty. The person(s)who suggested this should get a citizens award!
