School registration
The Martinez Baptist Hearts and Hands Christian Day School open house registration will be Monday from 4 to 6 p.m.
The school, at 3632 Lynnwood Drive in Martinez, is now enrolling for the 2003-2004 school year for grades K-2 through 8th. The school offers an A Beka curriculum.

A called school council meeting of Evans Elementary School, 628 Gibbs Road in Evans, will be Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. in the school's media center.

School carnival
Euchee Creek Elementary Schoolwill have its spring carnival on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be games, a moon bounce, a petting zoo (weather permitting), a cake walk, and a live auction. Items such as a week at camp, restaurant certificates, eye exams and a house-washing will be auctioned. The Coca Cola video truck will be there.

Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office will be holding a Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy on Mar. 20.
Participants will be given an insight to the everyday operations of the Sheriff's Office as well as firearms training, which will include live fire on the sheriff's office shooting range.
The free course is offered each Thursday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., for nine weeks and is open to Columbia County residents ages 18 and over.

Gardening seminar
A spring gardening and landscaping seminar will be Monday and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grovetown United Methodist Church. The seminar will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Bennett, the host of The Weekend Gardener and a lawn and garden instructor for Southern Living magazine.
