Re the Feb. 9 letter from Teresa Lyons, Help, understanding needed in daughters case:

I must be missing something here. I read in Lyons letter about two additional children being born, but no mention of the male side of the equation. Also, I didnt read the M word (marriage) or the H word (husband). It also appears that the C word (contraceptive) wasnt discussed either.

Those children should be placed in an environment that provides safety, comfort and good role-modeling. Lyons needs to get herself straightened out, become self-sufficient, and then ask the Columbia County Department of Family and Children Services to evaluate the return of her daughters - providing she doesnt bring another child into this world during this process.

I believe we should help the men and women who are willing to help themselves. I cannot imagine what the loss of a child would be like, but there are at least several people in this area that have experienced this type of loss, and have been able to cope.
