Party name error a 'misleading ... smokescreen'

Editor:

I want to submit my annoyance with the so-called typo regarding the political party affiliation of state Sen. Don Cheeks (in the Feb. 9 editorial, Use caution in changing ethics law).

You know as well as I that he is not a Democrat, and the editorial portrayed this man as one. This is misleading the voting public and The News-Times planned to do so from the get-go. Some of us voters are able to see through your smokescreen to continually fault Democrats whenever you can.

Id like to see a clarification on Cheeks political persuasion in an obvious spot so that the voters know just what party he really belongs to.

I am thrilled he joined the Republican Party where he belongs, because any honest man wouldnt have turned his back on the voters who helped put him back in office. Good riddence to bad trash.

(Editors note: A correction on the inadvertent political affiliation listed for Sen. Cheeks appeared in the next edition of The News-Times following the error.)
