Gardening at Lunch

The Columbia County Extension Service's monthly Gardening at Lunch seminar will be from 12:10 to 12:45 p.m. today at the Evans Government Complex auditorium. The topic will be theproper pruning of plants.

Republicans meet

The Columbia County Republican Party will convene precinct meetings Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the Columbia County Government Complex Auditorium in Evans. Registration opens at 9 a.m. The GOP county conventionwillbe March 8 at 10 a.m.

Pesticide test

The Georgia Commercial Pesticide Test will be given at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Columbia County Extension Office at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion.

Jazz concert

2003 Georgia All-State Jazz trumpeter Aaron Woodswill perform during A Night of Jazz at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Evans High School auditorium. The concert, which is part of his senior project, is free. Donations for the Save the Music Foundation will be accepted.

Liturgist workshop

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church will play host to a concert and workshop by liturgical composer Marty Haugen.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church on Pleasant Home Road. Seating for the free event will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The workshop will begin with morning prayers at 8:30 Saturday in the church and end at 2:15 p.m. Registration for the workshop will begin at 9 a.m. Admission costs $25, which includes coffee, doughnuts and lunch.

Aging meeting

The Georgia Division of Aging Services' public hearing on aging needs is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 12 at the McDuffie County Senior Citizens Center, 304 Greenway St., Thomson.

The Division on Aging Services will use public feedback and statistical data to develop new funding plans that address the current needs of senior citizens and family caregivers.

Hearing-impaired seminar

The Georgia Council for the Hearing Impaired will present How Do Relay Services Work from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 107 Sharton Dr., Augusta.

Self-defense class offered

The Lakeside High School Family Career and Community Leaders of America in coordination with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office will present Taking a Kick Out of Violence: A Self-Defense Session. It will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakeside High gymnasium.
