Great school name, but where is it?

Augusta, a wag once said, is the place where streets change their names after every intersection.

Its hard not to argue. Davis Road becomes Walton Way Extension, then Jackson Road, then North Leg. Dyess Parkway becomes Belair Road, then North Belair Road (or Industrial Park Drive), then Mulliken Road. Pleasant Home Road becomes Scott Nixon, then back to Pleasant home. Owens becomes Cox becomes Gibbs Road. Its enough to drive a cartographer nuts.

The naming of Columbia Countys elementary school does little to ease the confusion.

The school has a fine name; Lewiston Elementary is named for the Lewiston settlement, where the Lewis family lived. (Their name also graces nearby Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.). But Lewiston Elementary isnt on nearby Lewiston Road; its on Hereford Farm Road. It shares a kinship with Stevens Creek Elementary, which isnt on Stevens Creek Road but instead is on Evans-to-Locks Road. Go figure.

Lewistons new principal, Mike Doolittle, is a former assistant principal at Stevens Creek and thus is well-equipped for such a geographic challenge - though Doolittles current assignment is at Bel Air Elementary, which amazingly is on Belair Road!
