The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's office.

Purses stolen

Officials say two Evans women's purses were stolen Thursday from their vehicles after they left their vehicles unlocked.

Shelly Watkins was test driving a recreational van when she took it to Jiffy Lube at 4405 Washington Road in Evans to be inspected. Watkins told a Columbia County Sheriff's deputy that while the van was parked and unsecured in the bay area of the establishment someone removed her Gucci purse from the front seat. The purse contained a Gucci wallet, $20 in cash and a set of keys.

Holly Tisdale, an office manager with Tisdale Law Office, told police she had her Dooney and Bourke purse stolen after she left it in the back seat of her unlocked Toyota Land Cruiser while parked at Dollar General, 4388 Washington Road in Evans. The Columbia County Sheriff's report said three gift certificates for Park Avenue Antiques and four computer discs were also taken.

Both women said they will prosecute if the culprits are apprehended.

Identity fraud

A Martinez father recently reported his son had been stealing fromhimby using his check card to buy items on the Internet.

Harry Donald Glass, 67, reported to the sheriff's office that someone had used his Bank of America check card to make 16 Internet transactions totaling $916.45. According to an incident report, Glass confronted his son, Gregory Dean Glass, 43, about the transactions.

Gregory Glass, who shares the same address as his father, admitted to making the transactions. Harry Glass said he would like to file charges and was told how to obtain a pre-warrant hearing.
