Jazz concert

2003 Georgia All-State Jazz Trumpeter Aaron Woodswill perform during "A Night of Jazz" at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Evans High School auditorium. The concert, which is part of his senior project, is free. Donations for the Save the Music Foundation will be accepted.

Traveling Toilet

The Traveling Toilet was such a success that the City of Harlem's Relay for Life is adding a second toilet. Anyone can pay $10 to have the toilet sent to someone. Once in the yard, the resident can pay $10 to have it removed and sent to someone else. For more information, or to surprise someone with the Traveling Toilet, call Harlem City Hall at 556-3448.

Gardening at Lunch

The Columbia County Extension Service's monthly Gardening at Lunch seminar will be from 12:10 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. The topic will be Proper Pruning of Plants.

Democrats meet

The Columbia County Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the new Juvenile Court Conference Room in the Justice Center in Evans.

Church kickoff

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church is planning two events for Sunday, Feb. 9, to officially kick off its fund-raising campaign to build a new church on Columbia Road in Columbia County.

Parish youth will release balloons in front of the church on Pleasant Home Road after the 9:30 a.m. Mass to mark the opening of the capital campaign. At 6:30 p.m., a reception will be held for all parishioners to hear from the church leadership about building plans and the campaign, titled Living the Vision Together Through Grace.

Liturgist workshop

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church is hosting a concert and workshop presented by world-renowned liturgical composer Marty Haugen.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church on Pleasant Home Road. Seating for the free event will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

The workshop will begin with morning prayers at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the church and end at 2:15 p.m. Registration for the workshop will begin at 9 a.m. Admission is $25 per person, which includes coffee, doughnuts and lunch.
