Zimbabwe presentation
The United Methodist Women of Martinez United Methodist Church will hold a presentation on Zimbabwe, presented by Lola Parks and Ida James at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Registration will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall with light refreshments. A light lunch will be provided. Reservations for lunch need to be made by Wednesday.

Kindergarten orientation
Stevens Creek Elementary School will hold an orientation program from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, for parents who will have children attending kindergarten at the school next year.
The program will consist of a brief overview of the kindergarten curriculum, a tour of classrooms and a question-and-answer period. Information about registration requirements and kindergarten supplies will be provided.

Self-defense class offered
The Lakeside High School Family Career and Community Leaders of America, in coordination with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, will present Taking a Kick Out of Violence: A Self-Defense Session. It will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Lakeside High gymnasium. The event is part of FCCLA's national Students Taking On Prevention project.

Blood drive
Columbia County Emergency Services Division is holding a community blood drive for Shepeard Community Blood Center to help replenish blood supplies after the holidays. The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Evans Government Complex auditorium at 630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Building A.
Please bring photo identification or a blood-donor card. A free T-shirt and food is available with a donation.

Korean War veterans meeting scheduled
The Korean War Veterans Association, Sgt. Harold F. Adkinson Chapter 225, meets monthly at 2 p.m. on the third Saturday in the Burnettown Town Hall, S.C. Highway 421, Burnettown, S.C.
Membership is available to anyone who served in the armed forces from June 25, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955, and anyone who served in the armed forces in Korea from 1945 through the present. Associate memberships are available to other interested parties.
