Pardon us if were confused.
Georgias newly elected Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue, the day after his historic inauguration, presented a long dissertation with the details of his first budget. Among his proposals, Perdue seeks to raise taxes on tobacco products and alcoholic beverages, while delaying scheduled reductions in homestead exemptions.
Meanwhile, Democratic Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor promises to fight tax increases, echoing President Bushs remarks that its irresponsible to raise taxes during a recession.
A Republican tax hike? Democratic tax cuts? Did we miss something?
With all the party-switching thats been going on lately, did these two politicians change teams just to see if anyone would notice?
