Evans-to-Locks, Stevens Creek intersection should be left alone

We are against the change to the intersection at Evans-to-Locks Road and Stevens Creek Road. We had noticed the small survey flags and saw in the paper a few weeks ago that the county is planning on widening the intersection.

The paper said something about a survey of the number of cars going through this intersection, and we believe the survey was done when Furys Ferry/Baston Road intersection was being worked on and everyone was coming around this way trying to avoid Furys Ferry. Traffic has picked back up from the current work being done on Furys Ferry, but we dont believe it warrants the change to the intersection.

This is a residential area and that it should stay that way. Widening of roads would only bring more traffic. Secondly, we believe that it would cause more accidents, not less, to people on the bike path as they cross the intersection. It doubles the number of cars at the intersection and with them being side-by-side the bikers/people would be hidden from one or the other motorists view. Third, we believe that the speed limit along Evans-to-Locks Road should be reduced to 35 miles per hour to increase safety along the bike path.

The money would be better spent at the intersection of Evans-to-Locks Road and North Belair Road, with the bike path planned to go though that intersection as well.
