'Forced resignation' for coach Chomskis 'a sad day for Evans'

I was deeply saddened to read about the forced resignation of Lee Chomskis as football coach at Evans High School.

My sons did not play football for Chomskis but were involved in baseball. For seven years I was very active in the athletic booster program and worked very closely with Chomskis on fund-raising. During this time, no coach ever worked as hard fundraising or was as dedicated to improving the sports facilities at Evans High as was Coach Chomskis.

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, the day Chomskis' letter of resignation was accepted, was a sad day for Evans High and his leaving will be a great loss for all of Columbia County athletes.

I wish the best for Coach Chomskis and his family.
