Taunting students, beware: You'll be working for an immigrant

This is an open letter to the young people of Columbia County concerning the recent taunting at the Evans vs. Lakeside game:

A more accurate statement of just whom will be working for whom would be that both Lakeside and Evans graduates will be working for some sharp young individual from the Third World.

//

The fact is, Third World individuals wont work harder than you, but they will work a whole lot cheaper and there are 5 billion of them in the developing world. They outnumber our young citizens about to enter the workforce by tens of thousands to one. This results in overwhelming competition for jobs and severely depressed wages.

One in nine individuals in this country is now an immigrant and more are pouring in every day. In a recent study, an Associated Press report said that nearly all of the manufacturing and service jobs produced in the Northeast over the last decade went to immigrants. Twenty-five percent of white-collar jobs nationwide went to immigrants, which means that as many as 40 percent of the white-collar jobs in the Northeast went to immigrants.

Worse yet, in cities the jobless rate among our young minority citizens runs as high as 50 percent.

Your parents are busy working to provide for you and may not be aware, but this is something you should talk about among yourselves and with your parents. In the near future you will be given your voting privileges. You should vote for those candidates who will support a well-regulated guest-worker program that guarantees humane treatment for immigrant workers but protects the jobs of our own citizens, and a moratorium on citizenship for immigrants.
