Thoughts on flag, godly politics, school dates

A couple of things:

The letter from Bill Quattlebaum in the Nov. 20 edition was amusing but very serious ("Losers? Flag protesters got rid of Roy Barnes). We Republicans have a chance to make things better for the masses. We just need to be very careful and not mess up. For if we do, we will never hear the end of it.

I was dismayed by Norma Grooms Scripture references while discussing politics (letter, Nov. 20, Voters ungodly with failure to back Democrats.). Im not sure I would lump any of the individuals she mentioned into the God-fearing pool; besides, I dont think God is really into politics all that much.

I do not understand what the big deal is regarding the Columbia County school calendar. When I was in school, I dont ever remember my parents being consulted over what the school calendar was going to look like. The calendar was sent home with the last report card of the year and that was that. I hear nothing but great things about the new schedule. Let it go, people. Be more involved with your childs education - not when the vacations start and stop.

Regarding the Georgia flag: Lets face it; when the flag was changed in 1956, there was never a vote - it just got changed by a bunch of white guys who wanted to slap a little at desegregation. In my humble opinion, the pre-1956 flag is the one we should start with. Then well go from there.
