All-state softball

Greenbrier High School seniors Nikki Smith and Katie Sutherland made history last week by becoming the first Lady Wolfpack softball players to earn first-team All-state honors.

The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association voted Smith and Sutherland to the Class AAAA first-team, while teammate Kristan Glover was a second-team selection.

Sutherland, was right fielder for the Lady Pack, Smith played third base, and Glover was Greenbrier's pitching ace.

In Class AAA, Harlem High School softball players Amber Klein and Brandy Braswell were honorable mention all-state selections.

Soccer camp

There will be a TST Christmas Skills Indoor-Soccer Camp on Monday at Patriots Park Gymnasium. The camp time is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is for players ages 5-16. The cost is $40 per camper. All campers will need to bring a sack lunch, indoor shoes, shin guards and a ball. For more information call 294-5033 or register online at www.tstsoccer.com.

Evans alumni soccer

There will be a men's alumni soccer game at Evans High School on Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. All former Evans soccer players are invited to participate. Softball tryouts

The Wild Thangs girls fast-pitch softball travel team will conduct a tryout Sunday at Patriots Park softball complex. The tryout will be at 2 p.m., and is open for 16-and-under and 14-and-under age groups. For more information call Steve Schultz (541-1824) or Jim Borum (860-9489).

Tennis lessons

Petersburg Racquet Club in Martinez is offering free tennis lessons Thursday and Friday from noon to 2 p.m. These lessons are for beginning junior players ages 18 and under. You do not have to be a member of PRC to attend. The lessons are part of the USA 123 Tennis Program. For more information contact Dave Gleason, PRC director of tennis, at 860-9288.

Lakeside alumni soccer

Lakeside High School will hold its third annual Men's Alumni Soccer Match at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Panther Stadium. The cost to play is $25, which includes an alumni match T-shirt.
