Editor:
I am enrolled in Evans High and I was at the game Friday. Both schools were equal in their taunts.
So its OK for Lakeside students to chant that well be working for them someday, saying that our moms clean their houses, chant that our Homecoming Queen is a whore and a slut. No high school student is going to sit back and let a bunch of stuck-up snobs cut us down. Could our taunts be true? Is that why they got all defensive?
When we heard that they were chanting GED, our come back was STD. I would feel bad if there was something to feel bad about, but there isnt. Was letter writer Nancy Edenfield at the game the whole time? Whose students got kicked out of the game for their explicit dancing?
And about Evans being full of rednecks, if you take a look at Evans you would see that the school is a mix of every kind of student. Maybe thats why two of Lakesides star athletes left their school. Our school should not have to take taunts just because our parents are working-class people. And our principal, Don Brigdon, should not feel ashamed; we would never do anything to discredit our school any more than it already has been.
I just want your readers to know both sides of the story, and to decide the truth for themselves.
