Evans booster meeting

The Evans High School Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the school's media center. All interested parties are invited.

Tennis lessons

Petersburg Racquet Club in Martinez will be offering free tennis lessons from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 19 and 20. The lessons are for beginning junior players ages 18 and under. You do not have to be a member of PRC to attend. This program is part of the USA 123 Tennis Program. For more information, contact Dave Gleason, thedirector of the tennis program, at 860-9288.

Soccer champs

The Columbia County Under-12 Girls All-Stars won the Georgia Recreation & Parks Association State Tournament last weekend at Patriots Park.

In the semi-finals, Columbia County took a 2-1 victory over the LaGrange All-Stars. Caitlin Kupar scored both goals for Columbia County off assists from Stormi Childs and Ellie Bruni. Goalkeepers were Lindsey Leverett (two saves) and Tiffany Burch (three saves). Alana Dyson contributed outstanding field play for Columbia County.

Columbia County claimed the GRPA title with a 2-0 win over the Americus All-Stars. Caitlin tallied the first goal on an assist from Val Lawrence, while Jennifer Anderson tacked in a second goal, with an assist by Julia Segeleon. Anna Bloebaum was cited for outstanding field play, and goalkeeper Tiffany notched two saves in the finals.

Other team members for the Columbia County All-Stars were Alayne Dye, Elizabeth Hurley, Michelle Miller and Taylor Janes. The squad was led by head coach Dave Anderson and assistant coach Jim Kupar.
