Brooks takes charge

Columbia County native Taylor Brooks recently was named head coach of the baseball and softball teams at Oglethorpe County High School. Brooks was a Harlem High School baseball player, and went on to serve as an assistant baseball coach at Harlem under Jimmie Lewis. Last year at Oglethorpe County, Brooks was named Region Assistant Coach of the Year for baseball. This fall, he led the Oglethorpe County softball team to the state sectionals.

Cheerleading competition

Hayden's All-star Junior Silver and Black teams, and the Senior Squad, participated in the Regional Cheersport Competition earlier this month in Alpharetta, Ga. The Junior Silver squad placed second in its division, while the Junior Black squad took first place in its division. The Senior Squad added a second-place finish in its division.
