Golf pro honored

The Consumers' Research Council of America recently selected David Usry, head golf professional at North Augusta Country Club, as one of "America's Top Golf Instructors." The CRCA is an independent research company based in Washington that evaluates professionals that provide consumer services throughout America.

The selection process is based on the professional scoring in the top percentiles of various performance indicators. The performance indicators used in the evaluation encompassed the following four main areas: experience, playing ability, affiliations with recognized golf associations and the instructor's teaching ability.

Softball tryout

The Grease Lightning 18-and-under traveling fast-pitch softball team will hold tryouts for the 2003 season 2 p.m. Sunday at Patriots Park. Players need to bring a glove and shoes.
