Cake sale

The Grovetown Against Drugs 10th Annual Free Summer Day Camp Cake Sale will be held at the Grovetown Dept. of Public Safety, 306 East Robinson Ave., on Friday and Saturday beginning at noon each day. Suggested donations cost $8 per cake.

Flu shots

The Columbia County Board of Health will give flu shots at Grovetown City Hall on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shots cost $15.

Prayer walks for schools

Prayer walks for schools, sponsored by Harlem United Methodist Church, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at North Harlem and Grovetown elementary schools. Another walk will be at 10:30 a.m. at Euchee Creek Elementary School. Those wishing to participate may meet in front of the schools. For more information, call 556-6885.

Talent show

The Lakeside High School Chorus will present the annual Talent Show and Silent Auction at 7 p.m. Friday in the school auditorium.

A silent auction benefiting the Show Choir will be open before the program and during intermission. Concessions will be available.

Tickets cost $5 and may be purchased in advance through the school at 533 Blue Ridge Dr., or at the door. For more ticket information, call 863-0027.

Thanking the voters

The Republican Party of Columbia County is holding a Thank the Voters Victory Celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. The event costs $15 per person or $25 per couple at the door. The event will be at the Belair Conference Center, 4083 Belair Rd., Augusta, behind the Hampton Inn Suites.

Cancer society holds smokeout

The American Cancer Society has many events scheduled this week to celebrate the 26th annual Great American Smokeout.

"Smoke Free ... Lunch Free" is a community-wide event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wal-Mart on Bobby Jones Expressway. People who turn in a pack of cigarettes and commit to quit will receive a free lunch and the schedule for the next Freshstart Smoking Cessation class, and will be eligible for giveaways. Cell phones will be available to call the Georgia Tobacco Quit Line at (877) 270-STOP.

Harlem Thanksgiving Service
