This letter pertains to the stormwater runoff tax. A ridiculous tax! We still have a rain deficit of almost 7 inches, with seven weeks remaining in this year. Mother Nature provides us with this special gift, the rain that we dont have enough of.
We are still on water restrictions, odd or even and no Mondays. I live in Wymberly, a retirement community that consists of 183 homes. There are approximately 35 percent widows here who are on a fixed income, and many of the elderly are in their 80s and 90s.
There are only a handful of Columbia County residents, outside our community, who are affected by this tax or fee, whatever you want to call it. Is Columbia County so hard up for money that they had to dream up such a tax and take money out of the pockets of the elderly?
I hope someone will rethink this and do what is right - to abolish this tax.
