Funeral services will be held today for William L. Brunkow, 67, beloved husband of Rosalyn Brunkow, of Richmond Hill Road, Augusta. Mr. Brunkow was entered into rest Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta, today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.
Mr. Brunkow was preceded in death by his parents, William and Flora Brunkow, as well as a brother, Darwin Dean Brunkow.
Other family members are his children and their spouses: Kim Harris (Dan) of Appling, Sherri Brunkow-Schnell (Brian) of Augusta, and Julie Brunkow-Mayenschein of Evans; sister, Phylis Johnson of Cambridge, Minn., brothers, Clair Brunkow (Marynona) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Merlin Lee Brunkow of Minneapolis; and four grandchildren, Katie Harris, William Gabriel Schnell, Chandler Mayenschein and Blake Mayenschein.
Pallbearers will be Andy Pearce, Richard Brasco, Bob Willing, Jerry McLintock, Richard Butler and Harkness Butler.
Honorary pallbearers will be the band directors of Columbia, Richmond and Aiken County schools.
Mr. Brunkow was a native of Ipswich, S.D. He moved as a child to Minneapolis, where he worked at Schmidt Music before being drafted into the Army. The Army moved his family to Augusta in 1958, where he was a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps Band as a trumpeter. He was the owner of Brunkow's Band Instruments on Milledgeville Road, as well as a member of the Arcana Masonic Lodge No. 187 F & AM in Minneapolis. He was a member of American Legion Post 63, Augusta. He also was a member of the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians. He was a Methodist.
Visitation was Tuesday evening at Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta.
