Fleming will make 'an excellent state lawmaker'

Its been my privilege to serve the people of Columbia County as a commissioner and often Commission chairman for the past eight years. We have wonderful citizens in Columbia County, and working with them has been a pleasure.

But like any community, there are a few people who are negative and obstructive. Occasionally, some of these people write letters to this paper, one of which recently basically accused our former chairman, Barry Fleming, of not being responsive to his constituents on the stormwater utility issue.

Im very familiar with this issue, and with the persons who are concerned about it. I have met personally with them at length about their concerns. I also know Fleming has spoken with them numerous times at Commission meetings, by phone, and by letter. Fleming has certainly been responsive to their requests for dialogue. Their problem is that they just were not told what they wanted to hear.

Barry Fleming has been one of the best county commissioners and Commission chairmen with whom Ive had the pleasure to serve. He has always been responsive to his constituents and has always made decisions that were best for the people of Columbia County.

I know Barry Fleming will make an excellent state representative for Georgias 79th District, and I urge the voters of Columbia County to elect him.
