Editor:
I am compelled to write regarding a safety issue concerning the new bike path on Evans-to-Locks Road.
Those of us living in the area mentioned are most concerned for those bikers, hikers, and joggers using the bike path. As residents in The Abbeys, our concerns are that there will be unnecessary injuries to the above-mentioned groups if a stop sign is not placed on the bike path at the entrance to The Abbeys as well as Stevens Creek Elementary School when the path extends to cross that area.
During the fall and winter months there is considerable fog in this area. It is extremely difficult to make a left turn out of the Abbeys without entering the bike path.
We have about 64 residences in The Abbeys and at least 120 cars in and out of the area every day, including sanitation trucks, Fed Ex vehicles, U.S. mail trucks and lawn-equipment vehicles.
We are extremely concerned for the safety of the people using the bike path. We ask that stop signs be erected appropriately in hopes of avoiding any accidents.
