Lakesides's first win this season could come against Butler

A.B.'s high school football picks

Last week's record: 3-1

Overall: 26-4

Burke County at Greenbrier

This is a huge game for the Wolfpack. The picture is pretty simple - a victory gives Greenbrier a chance to sneak in and steal a playoff spot in Region 3-AAAA. If the Pack loses, it would take a miracle to make it to the state playoffs.

The Bears will have some incentive to get star running back Miquel Payne going, because a win would make Burke playoff-bound.

Burke County 26, Greenbrier 23

Lakeside at Butler

The Panthers can call off the search - their first win of 2002 will come Friday against Butler. The Bulldogs have some very talented players, such as tailback Cornell Scales and linebacker Jonna Lee. However, Butler has had a miserable season. So has Lakeside, but the Panthers will put it together this week.

Lakeside 17, Butler 14

Jefferson County at Harlem

Harlem has won two straight Region 3-AAA games since a disappointing loss at Washington County. This week the Dogs will make it three in a row. Harlem has too much speed on offense for Jefferson County.

Harlem 30, Jefferson County 13

Augusta Christian at Riverside Military Academy

Augusta Christian football coach Bruce Lane has done a terrific job in his first season with the Lions. Lane's multi-faceted offensive scheme has helped AC put up some big point totals, including a 56-0 win last week over Eagle's Landing Christian Academy. Look for AC to keep rolling this week with an easy win at Riverside Military Academy.
