Columnist didn't finish the job on grief's terms

Editor:

Barbara Seaborn, in her Oct. 6 column, Grief unfathomable, failed to include the next verse after I Peter 5:7. Verse 8 reads: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The Bible does explain why bad things happen to people, and it is not a mystery. Ephesians instructs the believer to put on the whole armor of God, and that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the ruler of the darkness of this world, against wicked spirits from on high.

John 10:10 instructs us that there is a thief who wants to steal, kill and destroy the believer. But Jesus Christ came that we might have life in all of its manifestations and have it more abundantly.

How do we keep from blaming God? His Word instructs that the devil is the author of all darkness, and that is who is to be blamed. But we have power over the devil through Jesus Christ. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe... (Ephesians 1:19).

I am displeased and disappointed.
