Re L. Gilmore's letter of Sept. 22 (Another Confederate monument is "offensive"), bashing the memory of the Confederacy:

Gilmore has hung her stupidity out for all to see. Does she value the memory of veterans from World War I, World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War?

If so, she should realize that there are a lot of us who not only had ancestors who fought in those conflicts, but also died in service to the Confederate cause. We cherish their memories, too.

At a time when everyone is preaching tolerance, Gilmore is displaying very little. I find her ignorance offensive and would advise her to be careful lest she find that she, too, had ancestors that served the Confederacy. Wouldnt she be an embarrassment to them?
