Re Barry Paschals Sept. 4 column, Nostalgia fed courts move:

I was on jury duty in the early 80s in Appling for a week. The only place to eat (a hot dog) was the filling station on the highway.

One day at lunchtime the sheriff invited us to the jail across the street to share a meal with them. He had a feast. The cook was a black lady and she outdid herself. After that, I often thought how lucky the prisoners were to be fed so well. I bet they enjoyed their stay!
