The Grovetown Department of Public Safety is looking for a man they say molested a 13-year-old girl and disappeared.
Capt. Gary Owens said a warrant for aggravated child molestation was issued on 27-year-old Jose Antonio Ruiz on Aug. 31 - the same day a young girl said she found her sister in bed with Ruiz in his Grovetown home.
A report of the incident shows the girl went home and noticed that her sister was not there. She said she then went to Ruiz's home on Whiskey Road and found her sister in bed with Ruiz.
The report also shows the mother of the two girls told officers Ruiz had previously "made moves" toward one of her daughters.
Owens said Ruiz, also known as Antonio Jose Farias, left his home before officers could secure the warrant and speak to him about the incident.
"He left while we were interviewing the family," Owens said. "We'll find him."
Ruiz is believed to be in the area and other law enforcement agencies have been asked to assist in the search, Owens said.
Owens released a picture of Ruiz that was taken in early August after he was arrested for a traffic violation.
Ruiz is described as 5-8, 185lbs, white male with black hair and brown eyes who was last seen in the Grovetown area. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 863-1212.
