Fall tennis

USA Team Tennis will hold registration Sept. 7 at Petersburg Racquet Club for its Fall Junior Tennis League. Sign-up times are from 9 a.m. to noon. Players and captains can register; if you are not already on a team, you may register as an individual, and will be placed on one.

League play begins Sept. 22 and runs through November. All matches are on Sundays at 2 p.m. Age groups include 10-and-under; 12-and-under, 14-and-under, and 14-and-over.

The cost is $12 for a League fee, which pays for court fees and a player T-shirt. A USTA membership costs $13. If you do not have a USTA membership, you can register online at www.usta.com and receive immediate confirmation and a membership number; also, players can call the USTA at 1-800-990-8782 and they will fax your confirmation and membership number.

Swimming tryouts

Aiken-Augusta Swim League, a year-round non-profit swim team, will hold a tryout session for the 2002-03 season Thursday at Augusta State University. Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke to try out. The tryout session for ages 10 and under will be from 6-7 p.m., and ages 11 and up will try out from 7-8 p.m. Call Ken Heis at 803-613-0202 for more information or see www.swimasl.org.
